So the rumors have been bubbling up for weeks, but today—after a closed-door city council session earlier in the week–Alameda’s City Manager Debra Kurita, who has served the city for more than three years, tendered her resignation.

The Alameda Journal has this story. Michele Ellson at The Island has this. A while back I did this profile of Kurita. I’m sure we’ll be learning more details in the days to come.

Is anyone else outraged at the behavior of our city officials? The same day the city manager resigns after years of malfeasance, the police departments internal afairs sergeant is arrested on drug charges!! What the hell? Someone google this guy and read the news stories of his history at APD. The mayor says he was a good cop?? You’re kidding me! Who made this guy the internal affairs sergeant? He should have been fired years ago. Put the fox in charge of the hen house – what a fantastic idea…
