Thanks for bringing this to light Lucinda. Bad enough that the business owners of Alameda seem to lack any imagination, but is anyone awake over at the Alameda business licensing dept? Why can't the Chamber of Commerce or someone at economic development woo some legit income-producing stores for the city, like Apple, Pottery Barn etc. Look at Emeryville, San Rafael, and Burlingame's robust and varied small-town downtown business districts. Even newly-rediscovered Benecia now has more interesting shops and walkability. I counted no less than 13 nail/hair salons in visual distance of Park St, from SouthShore to the Park St bridge. And now the yogurt shops are more of the same.

At leastit's not a nail shop. I guess there's a lot of people who have mani/peds to support all the nail shops in town. I would like to see a fish & chips place, even H.Salt or John Silver.
