The third session of the Alameda City Budget Community Meeting will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. this Thursday, June 9, at the Alameda Main Library. The event is being hosted by Alameda Citizens Task Force (ACT).
The first meeting was an informational presentation and discussion by Alameda Treasurer Kevin Kennedy and Alameda Auditor Kevin Kearney, who explained how the city budget works and concerns about our growing deficit.
The second gathering, the task group says, was a workshop on specific areas of the budget and ideas on what should be done.
This Thursday, the group hope that Kennedy, Kearney and other participants will summarize the past two meetings, prioritize the recommended budget cuts presented by city staff and prepare a report for the city council and incoming City Manager John Russo.
