A group working to protect Alameda parks is having a kick-off get-together from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Deck at Dragon Rouge Restaurant, 2337 Blanding Ave. — by the Park Street Bridge.

Organizers are asking residents, neighbors and friends to come to an evening of fun and fund-raising focused on Measure D, which aims to protect Alameda City parks now and in the future.

There will be hors d’oeuvres, live music and auction items, as well as a no-host bar. Donations of $20 are requested, and lawn signs will be available.

Donations can also be sent to: Protect Our Alameda Parks, 875A Island Dr. Box 201, Alameda, CA 94502, FPPC #1344818.
