Artists’ Reception, Drawing Contest on Tap

From 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, the Island Alliance of the Arts is hosting an opening reception for its seventh-annual show of works by California artists at the Alameda Museum, 2324 Alameda Ave.

The exhibit, Cross Currents, features works made by over 20 artists, who will discuss their projects with community members from 12 to 2 p.m. at the museum on July 27: Karen Allen, Barbara Buhrz, Laurie Gardner, Brian Grus, Miriam Infinger, Ines Kramer, Michael McDonough, Glenna Mills, Ana Music-Anderson, Jane Nielson, Cyrus Ng, John Nicolini, Laurel Prieto, Sara Richardson, Cherylene Robinson, Kathleen Schwab, Ralph Smith, Joan Tharp, Nichole Wakeman, Jan Wall and Justin Yanke.

Budding child artists are invited to enter Dog Bone Alley’s annual Draw Your Pet contest though July 24. One winner will be selected for artists 6 and under, 7 to 9, and 10 and up.

Each winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to Dog Bone Alley and a $10 gift certificate to Tucker’s Ice Cream. Art contributed by all entries will be on display at the store during the Alameda Art & Wine Faire (July 27-28).
