It’s unfair and unsafe that a the gardening group is getting special treatment by Rec & Park to hold a public event in Jean Sweeney Open Space Park (JSOSP) when the CEQA and EIR for the park has not yet been completed. No official use plan has been approved yet for JSOSP, no one knows the environmental impacts and no one knows the true measure of potential chemicals and poisons in the soil. Other groups have expressed the desire to hold volunteer events in JSOSP be we’ve always been told we have to wait until the plan is complete and there is CEQA approval. Very unfair to those who have been participating the planning process.
