Dirt report

Weeks ago I shared the story of planting WAY too many tomato seeds — resulting in some 65 plants that have found dirt in all parts of the city. I figured it was time to deliver a dirt report: a tomato check-in, as it were.

Here in our sunny backyard, frontyard, and sideyard, tomatoes are not just growing — they’re reaching for the sky. Our tomato bushes range from 3 to 5 feet tall. That’s a lot of vine, but what about the fruit?

Good question. We have evidence at this point in time. There may be tomatoes in our future. All should be either purple or black, but we’ll have to see about that. For now, our tomatoes include a multitude of pear-shaped bulbs, a few hefty orbs and a smattering of smaller marble-esque rounds, all terribly green and dissapointingly inedible at present. How are your tomatoes coming along?
