Last week’s book contest elicited such great recommendations, we kept doing mad clicky dashes to Amazon.com for details on your picks. Congrats go to winner, Cindi – whose family loves the “Gallagher Girls,” a teen series about a girls’ boarding school for spies-in-training. We’ll have to check out the Wilderking series Angela recommended and Michele’s Percy Jackson suggestion too.
Now, we’re giving away baby-related books, including “The Expert’s Guide to the Baby Years,” “Parenting Magazine’s Baby Must-Haves,” and the adorable board book, “Butterfly Kisses” by Sandra Magsamen. (If your book tastes run to tween and teen fare, more next week!) Click “comments” and tell us … what’s the coolest, most hilarious or most practical baby gift you’ve run across? We’ll draw a winner Friday night.

Hi! It has to be a baby “sling!” I was looking for a gift for a close friend. A catalog came in the mail and there it was. She absolutely loves it! Thanks for another wonderful contest…..Cindi

My daughter made her sister a ‘Diaper Cake’ from scratch. It was way cool and my daughter was so proud of her creation that she didn’t want her sister to break it down.

A “Diaper Cake”! That’s so cool. Now I’m dying to know, how did she do it??

Most practical baby item? For me, definitely a rocking chair. My 4-year old still loves to be rocked.
Most useless gift? Probably the boppy. That pillow was all the rage when my son was born but pretty much just got in the way the entire time.
Weirdest gift? That would be the 5-foot tall stuffed tiger (not a cute baby tiger mind you, but Mutual of Ohama Wild Kingdom-tiger) that someone gave me at my baby shower. To this day, I have no idea what they were thinking.

I would have to say The Baby Owner’s Manual is the funniest baby book I have seen.

Most practical that I thought was weird when I received it was a dozen white washcloths. So many uses!
