My 11 year old daughter has read “Fairy Dust Tales” by Bess Adams. She loves this book because it is about a 12 year old girl who moved to a new town and struggles with fitting in. We just moved to Indiana last year and she was able to relate to the character in the story. I found the book for her at http://www.fairydusttales.com.

Princess Bride is a GREAT movie from a GREAT book. And I can’t believe a 12 year old is writing novels that are published and everything! I have a 13 and 11 year old, and they would LOVE To see that kids their age can write books, too.

Yes, Disney made a movie version of “Wrinkle in Time”! Haven’t seen it, but Amazon’s got it listed and it looks like people either loved it or hated it.

Did they ever make a movie out of the “A Wrinkle in Time”? That book was so good as a preteen.

This is a tough one! Any Roald Dahl books seem to make great movies, Matilda being our favorite. Of all time favorite I would have to with Harry Potter, our whole family adores the movies and the books.

A close second would be “A Series of Unfortunate Events” in which Jim Carrey plays Count Olaf. Hilarious! My daughter has loved that movie and the soundtrack since she was tiny! (do I get a slap on the wrist for letting her see it?)

In both movies I love the problem solving and comradere especially the sibling bond in the SOUE movie.

Witches by Roald Dahl. We love the movie, my daughter loves that the little boy becomes a mouse

Oooh, we love The Mouse And The Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. There is a cheesy TV movie made by ABC in the late 70′s/early 80′s that we love watching together with the kids. That Ralph and his close calls really got our heart rates up.
