hiker, StockXchng Getting kids off the couch and into the great outdoors was the topic of a sold-out conference in Berkeley last week (read more about it on the Playborhood blog too) – and it inspired last weekend’s “Big Q: What Would You Do”  question. So, read our favorite parenting expert Rona Renner’s take (and readers’ too), then tune in Sunday morning to Rona’s radio show, Childhood Matters when sustainability and environmental health expert Annie Leonard talks about kids, the wild outdoors and our relationship to the planet.  Cool. Free. And you can listen in at 9 a.m. on 98.1 KISS-FM or 105.1 KOCN-FM, or download the podcast afterward.

Let me get this straight…. rather than spending a Saturday (albeit a rainy one) perhaps playing with their children, some 100-odd parents attended a conference about getting kids out into nature??? And we think that the problem lies with video games? Give me a break.
