Personally, I would never buy a Bratz doll for my child. There are so many other great toys, or books out there, why would you put your money into something so rediculous? The dolls remind me of the ads for sketchers that distort a real woman's body, and put a giant cartoon-like head on-top. When I was a little girl, I played hospital, school, and dance-class with realistic, child-like dolls. They wore baby or kid doll clothes, not clubbing clothes, and the only make-up they had would be the nail-polish I remember putting on one of them. Although expensive, I always thought the American Girl Dolls were a really quality investment for a little girl who really appreciates a doll. They are realistic, come in many ethnicities, and look like children. Plus, the original dolls come with a wholesome, but interesting book to match. They are characters that represent a specific time period and part of the world.

Personally, I just think they are ugly dolls with big heads and I don't see the attraction to them. But, of course, my 2 daughters (11 & 13) are obsessed with them and have been for quite some time. I've never gotten the impression that either one of them wanted to dress like a Bratz doll or any other doll. I don't quite see where the idea comes from that our kids want to dress like a doll... but, then again, maybe my girls are just not of the norm, I don't know.
