MOMMY Lit Book Giveaway

Hope you all had a fantastic Mother’s Day yesterday! In honor of that big day, we’re giving away a stack of mommy lit – so you can read something other than Dr. Seuss in your, er, copious spare time. In the stack: Jill Kargman’s “Momzillas,” a comic tale of uber-competitive mothering on New York’s Upper East Side, Polly Williams’ “Yummy Mummy,” and Holly Peterson’s “The Manny” – a beach read about a Park Avenue mom and her hot male nanny. Hmmm, do you detect a trend here? Take one exhausted New York mom, add several pairs Manolo Blahniks and plenty of pop references. Publish. Ah well, here’s a little fun and froth to lighten the hours. And all you have to do to win them is click “comments” and tell us about your Mother’s Day. (Congrats, by the way, to Kelly Ann, who won last week’s dog-themed treasure trove!)

Blissfully quiet! After church, we came home and I rested/watched TV while my husband & kids took care of household duties.

  2. Kam A Says:

Not much since my husband worked but for the couple of hours that he was home I went out shopping (without the 2 little ones!)

  3. Johannah B Says:

I cooked breakfast for hubby and I — later I cooked dinner for hubby and #1 son – #2 son came and made his own — and I made brownies and chocolate chip cookies — boy did they love those.

  4. Susan Chester Says:

I had tons of schoolwork and a three hour test, because I had procrastinated all week. My daughter and her husband brought me the most beautiful flowers and candy though, so I was a happy camper.

I slept in, they brough me breakfast in bed (a chocolate cover cheescake with fresh raspberries and strawberries and fresh roses), opened my gifts, we watched the Cars movie together, went for lunch at our favorite thai resturant (our third year), took at nap, ate thai leftovers

As Latina mamas get two Mother’s Days! Mexican Mother’s Day is May 10, and then US Mothers Day was Sunday – so we celebrated all weekend! Saturday, my 3 year old and my parents and I went to the farmer’s market and bought the stuff we always talk ourselves out of because its too expensive – we’re still enjoying those organic strawberries. That night, my partner and dad grilled in the yard – my son as their trusty helper – and we hung out outside till the sun went down.
Sunday, we went to a few nurseries to admire the plants and trees and flowers. Then we packed up sandwiches and sat in the park. On mother’s day, I dont like to escape from my kid or family – we come together and connect, and leave the dishes for next week.
