Famous novelists’ letters home from college? imagines them all, the missive from Henry David Thoreau, who keeps to his room lest a “frisbee to the cranium … shatter his intense connection to the earth and the sky”, the whimsical note from Lewis Carroll (“School is simply a frilling jolly time!”) and the briefest of memos from Ernest Hemingway.
