Celia Baula heads for HogwartsGot a Harry Potter fan in your life? Here’s how to see London, with tips from this week’s expert, Celia Baula.

THE TRAVELER: Celia Baula, project management consultant, San Ramon, and her sister

THE TREK: “For my 30th birthday, I decided to go to Europe with my sister. The bulk of my birthday trip was spent in Paris, but I decided to spend a day in London on my way back to the U.S. to dabble in the magic of Harry Potter.”

BEST BEDS
: “We stayed at Hotel Russell in Russell Square. It was really convenient because it was close to the Underground Station, and the British Museum is a few blocks walk.

BEST EATS: The sidewalk cafes near Buckingham Palace.

COOL SIGHTSEEING: “I was ecstatic when I saw Platform 9¾ with my own eyes. I brought my Gryffindor scarf and had my photos taken. There was a pushcart that’s halfway into a wall, so I held the handle and pushed really hard, hoping to get a glimpse of the Hogwarts Express on the other side of the platform. I was imagining Harry and Ron making their way through the crowd with their pushcarts, wishing that the train hadn’t left or they’d have to take the flying car again. I also stopped by Buckingham Palace and watched the changing of the guards.”

TRAVEL TIP: “I took the hop on/hop off tour bus and got to see most of the city — including the Gringotts Wizarding Bank facade used in the Harry Potter movies — in one day.
