Rip Squeak's "Find the Magic"
1. Rip Squeak, the star of Julia Harnett Harvey and Lee Cohen’s whimsically illustrated picture books, gets his own gallery exhibit right on San Francisco’s Pier 39. Check out the grand opening Saturday at 4 p.m., get your books signed, meet the authors and enjoy a family party. Free but rsvp.

2. Chabot’s Lunar Lounge hosts a galactic Battle of the Bands tomorrow night from 6 to 11 p.m. ($10-$15)

3. Cavort on Pixieland‘s tot-sized rides in Concord. ($1.25 per ride ticket.)

4. Ride the trains and fish for crawdads at Pittsburg’s Small World Park. ($1.75-$3.50)

5. Or check out your innards at Berkeley’s Hall of Health museum. ($5)
