Sept. 7 at 9 a.m. on 98.1 KISS-FM and 105.1 KOCN-FM. Host Rona Renner and panelists Dr. Will Courtenay, Niinana Kweku, head of Male Services at Bright Beginnings, and Eric Reynolds, fathers support group facilitator at Bananas, discuss fatherhood.

“Effective Parenting Techniques”
Sept. 8 at 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Alameda Adult Education. Workshop on parenting, communication, discipline and conflict-resolution.

“Special Needs Kids and the Future”
Sept. 10 at 6 p.m., Martinez Adult Ed. Center. Learn about planning for your special needs child’s future, including educational, legal and financial issues. ($5)

“The Parent Project”
Starts Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the John Muir Behavioral Health Services Center, Concord. An 11-week series for parents raising strong-willed teens, The Parent Project includes lectures, workshops and consultations. ($60 registration includes textbook. Sponsored by the Mt. Diablo School District and John Muir.)

Sept. 12 at 6:00 p.m. at Bananas, Oakland. First in a series of five “Baby Basics” classes for new and expectant parents on breastfeeding, diapering, baby-proofing, time management and other issues. (Register with Bananas.)

“College Financial Planning”
Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Martinez Adult Ed Center. College financial planning workshop with an emphasis on 529 savings plans. ($19)

Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. at The Creek Youth Center, Walnut Creek. Michael Simon, family therapist and founder of Practical Help for Parents, leads a discussion on tweens, psychological development, middle school and parenting challenges. (Free but rsvp.)
