"The Moon Shines Down" by Margaret Wise BrownRemember “Goodnight Moon,” the beloved bedtime story by Margaret Wise Brown? And “Runaway Bunny”? Amazingly, there’s a brand new book out by Brown, 56 years after her death. How? The unpublished manuscript for Brown’s “The Moon Shines Down” was recently discovered in a Vermont barn, its yellowed onion skin pages tucked inside a cedar trunk. Now, the book has just been published, and it’s sure to become a bedtime favorite with its illustrations by Linda Bleck and Brown’s soft rhymes lilting their way around the world – “Then the Moon shines down on the Fields of France, Where the little French children are jumping in a dance” and so on, through the Australian outback, English woods and Zimbabwa’s plains. It’s lovely. And it can be yours! We’re giving away a copy of the just published book, along with a boardbook version of “Goodnight Moon, 1, 2, 3” and all you have to do is click “comments” and tell us about your favorite bedtime book. We’ll draw a winner Sunday night.

I have to say my son’s favorite is The Diggingest Dog because my husband reads it with such enthusiasm! Coincidentally, The Diggingest Dog was my husband’s favorite childhood book, so now I know why he picks that one off the bookshelf so often for our son!
