Stickers at Eaton School in Cupertino (San Jose Mercury News)What a night! The presidential election took center stage, of course, but once the hubbub had died down a bit, many parents started anxiously seeking out tallies for ballot battles closer to home.

School funding measures in Acalanes, Dublin, John Swett, Livermore, Martinez, Pittsburg, San Lorenzo and West Contra Costa passed handily. And school boards are being remade across the East Bay.

Change is afoot – big time – in the Mt. Diablo district, where trustee April Treece, a longtime supporter of superintendent Gary McHenry is out. The election of incumbent Gary Eberhart and new board member Sherry Whitmarsh may herald a sea change in that district.

In Pleasanton, incumbent Chris Grant will return to the board, along with new trustees Valerie Arkin and Jamie Yee Hintzke.

Knightsen voters reelected incumbents Barbara Cecchini, Dorothy Walter and Franklin Dell. But over in Livermore, voters appear to have ousted the incumbents and elected challengers Stewart Gary and Chuck Rogge.
