BEEDLE the Bard

Beedle the BardHarry Potter’s adventures at Hogwarts may be over, but we haven’t read the last of JK Rowling’s prose. Her newest book, “The Tales of Beedle the Bard,” lands on bookstore shelves this Thursday and we can’t wait. As you may recall, in the seventh and final book of the series, Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore left several items in his will for his favorite junior wizards, to help them find and vanquish the evil Lord Voldemort. These items included a Golden Snitch, a Deluminator and his gift to Hermione Granger, a collection of fairy tales read by every young wizard or witch-to-be. One of the Bard’s stories, “The Tale of the Three Brothers,” offers Hermione, Ron and Harry an important clue about the Deathly Hallows, which Harry goes on to use in the final battle.

Now, Hogwarts fans can read all five of the stories, including “The Fountain of Fair Fortune,” “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot, “The Warlock’s Hairy Heart,” and our favorite title of all time, “Rabbitty Babbitty and Her Cackling Stump.” Amazon ran reviews of the original, hand-drawn books, which were auctioned off for charity last year, but we’re not sure we want the fun spoiled. We’d rather just try to imagine what Rabbitty Babbitty is - a one-legged rabbit? a Baba Yaga type witch? So here’s the question for you… are you planning to buy this book?
