Bananas, Inc.One of the great things about the preschool fairs organized by local moms clubs is how many great resources we discover – or rediscover – each year. So over the next couple of weeks, we’re going to be sharing 10 great East Bay schools, classes and other family resources you may not know about. NAME: Bananas, Inc.

THE BASICS: This venerable, non-profit Oakland institution offers free parenting classes and workshops, as well as babysitting and child care referrals online and at its home base, 5232 Claremont Ave. Oakland.

WHY IT’S COOL: Looking for a babysitting class for your teenager? There’s one tomorrow night. A class to help you manage your toddler’s tantrums? That one’s Thursday. Need a long-term babysitter or emergency respite? This is the place. Just need advice? Delve into Bananas’ 3,000 book reference library. It’s all here and it’s all free.
