We’ll be at the East Bay Moms’ Preschool & Childhood Resource Fair next weekend and we’re wowed by how many other organizations will be there too – 70! So we’ve been sharing info on a sampling of them. Read on, then add your own suggestions for great East Bay childhood resources by clicking “comments”.
NAME: Gan Shalom Preschool, Berkeley
THE BASICS: There are so many types of early childhood education philosophies, but one of the most popular among Bay Area families is the religious-based preschool. Gan Shalom, for example, is affiliated with Berkeley’s Congregation Beth Israel, 2230 Jefferson Ave., 510-848-3298.
WHY IT’S COOL: Religious-based preschools weave religious instruction into the usual ABCs, arts and crafts, and song time, and the Bay Area boasts scores of Christian, Jewish and other religious schools for young children. But Gan Shalom is a favorite among members of the Berkeley Parent Network – a fantastic resource, by the way – who praise the school’s ability to “attract the most amazing, warm, enthusiastic, creative and down-to-earth teachers” and its “incredibly strong sense of community and great learning.” (Follow the BPN link to read more reviews)
Stop and chat with a Gan Shalom rep at the East Bay Moms’ Preschool and Childhood Resource Fair – and stop by our table too! – on Saturday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Center in Oakland.
