Cal Grants is hosting free financial aid workshops throughout the Bay Area, including Feb. 26 at Chabot College, as well as other locations through the beginning of March.

“Positive Parenting”
Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at Bananas, Oakland
A 6-week parenting series on raising healthy, competent children, facilitated by by Madeline Meyer-Riley, MFT, mom and former family child care provider. (Free; limited childcare available – reservations required.)

“Drive Smart, Stay Safe: A Class for Teens and Parents”
Feb. 24 from 5:45 to 8 p.m. in the Acalanes High School cafeteria, Lafayette
Free workshop for parents and teens to attend together, sponsored by the California Highway Patrol. (Reservations required.)

“Childhood Matters: Responding to Tantrums”
Feb. 28 from 9 to 10 a.m. on Green 960 AM and streamed live on Childhoodmatters.org. Rona Renner, RN and panelists discuss tips for taming tantrums.

“Family Life & Spirituality: Raising Children”
March 1 at 4 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Pleasant Hill. A new 5-part series of parenting workshops explores family life and spirituality in this modern, hectic world. The March 1 talk is by Episcopal priest Sue Singer, Church Divinity School of the Pacific.

“Teen Body Image”
March 3 at 7 p.m., Acalanes High School Theater, Lafayette
Parent workshop on body image, sexuality, eating and exercise. Free. (Need more info?)

“Cool Night: Middle School”
March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Alhambra High, Martinez
This free, College Opportunities/Opportunities for Life workshop for middle school parents and kids is sponsored by the Contra Costa County Office of Education. Registration deadline is Feb. 25.

“Sister-to-Sister Summit”
March 7 at Orinda Intermediate School
A workshop for middle school girls, sponsored by the American Association of University Women, Lamorinda chapter.

“Childhood Matters”
March 7 from 9 to 10 a.m. on Green 960 AM and streamed live on Childhoodmatters.org. Rona Renner, RN and panelists discuss parenting issues.

“Family Life & Spirituality: Marriage”
March 8 at 4 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Pleasant Hill. A new 5-part series of parenting workshops explores family life and spirituality in this modern, hectic world. Speaker: Rev. Dr. Herbert Anderson, Lutheran Pastor, Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary.

“Children and a Healthy Media Environment”
March 11 at 7 p.m. at Wagner Ranch Elementary School Library, Orinda
Presentation by Dr. Richard Freed on how to protect your child from addiction to video games and the Internet. Sponsored by the Wagner Ranch Parents Club.

“Ask the Expert: Autism, ADHD & Other Issues”
March 12 at 7 p.m., Danville (2nd Thursday of each month)
