Are you joking Lorre? You need to learn a little about the area. JMP is a GREAT park (in a nice area). It’s the oldest second growth redwood in the state. It’s arguable one of the nicest urban parks you’ll find. Albeit farily small, only about 450 acres, JMP borders Redwood Regional Park which encompasses a large park of the Oakland Hills east of Hwy 13. It also connects to Anthony Chabot and Lake Chabot Regional Parks.

Wow, Lorre – that’s quite a statement. Joaquin Miller Park is a gorgeous bit of wilderness up in the Oakland hills, and I find it charming that Oakland’s park and rec department is making it easy and affordable for city families to experience nature and try a little camping, in the easiest way possible.

I don’t even drive through Oakland with the car doors locked and windows rolled up, why would I want to camp there? I’m sure you could come up with something better to do on the weekend.
