American Girl’s newest girl tackles issues of bullying in “An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong.” This DVD tells the tale of Chrissa Maxwell, newly arrived and quickly tormented by the “Mean Bees,” a trio of bullies. How does she stop the bullying? You’ll have to see it to find out. And we’re sending the DVD to one lucky family. Want it? Click “comments” and share your bully-taming tips. We’ll draw a winner’s name next Monday, Sept. 28.
(Meanwhile, congrats are due to Twito who has a copy of “Gastrokid” headed her way! Great ideas for last-minute suppers from all of you guys. Check ‘em out here!)

Keeping the school counselor informed of what is going on is my best tip!

Give your child(ren) the confidence to stand up to the bully. Make sure they know that the bully has no power over them. If that doesn’t work then make sure somebody in authority can step in and take care of the matter.

It takes a village to tame a bully. By this I mean the school principle, teachers, social worker, psychologist
and a child’s home! Be it the bully or the child being bullied! Self-confidence is a big factor and I also think using classroom supplements on the subject may help. My great-niece is on the heavy side and I know she gets a lot of ribbing at school. This video would be helpful to her. Thanks, Cindi
