Fin Fest: It’s Sharktober time over at Pier 39’s Aquarium of the Bay. Take a shark-y scavenger hunt, touch live sharks, and watch a shark feeding presentation (Thursdays and Sundays at 1:30 p.m.; free with museum admission). Then, come back on Oct. 17 for a shark film fest ($17) and family sleepover ($60).
Good Witch: One of Tomie de Paola’s most popular characters steals the limelight at San Ramon’s Front Row Theater this weekend in “Strega Nona.” Oct. 10-18; $15-$19.
Family Fair: Pony rides, bouncy houses and carnival games abound at First 5 Contra Costa’s eighth annual Super Saturday Family Fest for kids, ages five and under, and their parents. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10; John F. Kennedy Park, 350 South 41st St., Richmond.
Fretted Fun: San Francisco Performances’ family matinee series kicks off Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. with a special kid-friendly performance by guitarists Peter and Zoltan Katona and baritone Christòpheren Nomura. Tickets $8-$15; Herbst Theatre.
In a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Forget the Death Star. It’s the music of “Star Wars: In Concert” that will bowl you over. No East Bay shows, but Sacramento’s Arco Arena and San Jose’s HP Pavilion are less than a parsec away — and C-3PO is narrating. The production includes a full symphony orchestra and choir, and 3-story projection screen. $24.50 and up; Oct. 9-11.
