Flashlight Tours: What could be spookier than exploring an aircraft carrierâ€™s off-limits areas by flashlight? The U.S.S. Hornet, which is berthed in Alameda, is offering flashlight tours on Feb. 20 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a â€śLiving Ship Day,â€ť a historical re-enactment that lets participants watch simulated flight operations as planes are lifted to the flight deck and readied for launch. Princesses & Peas: The witty, musical spoof of the old â€śPrincess & the Peaâ€ť legend took on new life when â€śOnce Upon a Mattressâ€ť landed on Broadway back in 1959. Now, the tale of Prince Dauntless and Princess Winnifred the Woebegone â€” and that famous legume â€” is headed for Berkeleyâ€™s Julia Morgan Performing Arts Center. The show runs Feb. 20- 28.
