Here’s something cool for you Bay Area-ites: Dolby is hosting an opening night showing of Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” – in Dolby 3D, naturally – at the Sundance Kabuki theater, 1881 Post St., San Francisco. The curtain goes up at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 5, and we’ve got four free tickets plus $20 in concession gift cards to give away to one lucky family, thanks to the very nice folks over at Dolby.
How do you win them? Click “comments” and tell us, who’s your favorite Wonderland character and why? We’ll draw a winner’s name on Tuesday, March 2.
UPDATE: OK, folks, just drew a winner’s name and it’s Corina – who needs to respond to my e-mail by this evening to get those tickets!

My favorite character is the Cheshire Cat. I like cats in general, and I like the Cheshire Cat because he is the most enigmatic of all cats.

We love Johnny Depp he his always wonderful in all movies he makes. But that is not why I would like tickets. My daughter is turning 12 March 9 and is having a sleepover with 5 friends March 5th and they want to go see Johnny in Alice in wonderland. This would be a great birthday present. So please pick me.

My favorite character is the Jabberwocky. While it’s not an actually a key character, it’s a great poem Alice reads. I’ve always been fond of the poem because it’s fun and nonsensical. Yet, it’s a great demonstration of the playfulness of the English language, even when Carroll makes up much of the words. “Jabberwocky” stands out in my mind as a representation of the creativity that went into Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.

My favorite character is the mad hatter. He reminds me of my self and how everyone is a little mad. I love the Quote “Why is a raven like a writing desk?” Is it because Edgar alan Poe used a Raven quill for witing his material at his writing desk? There is no answer. It’s whatever you want it to be. ” Were all mad here”.

My favourite character has always been the Caterpillar… thoughtful philosophy taught from the top of a mushroom… can’t go wrong.

Definitely the white rabbit. Without him who would get Alice in all that trouble?

I nominate the The White Rabbit who’s the dreamlike, dapper continuity throughout this emphemeral tale. He attempts to arrive in a timely fashion (after all he holds the timekeeper) but always falls short and demands assistance from his ersatz dresser, and appointment-maker, Alice, though he seems to have mistaken her for someone else. Oddly, she (and we, too) accept this mistaken identity as normal as we do everything in this topsy-turvy imaginative free-association adventure.

My favourite Alice in Wonderland character is the White Rabbit! And that’s because we can all relate to the pressures endured from the ‘Queen’ making you bustle around in the hustle we call life! I feel sympathy for the White Rabbit so I think that’s why he’s my favourite character, bless him!
