The Wiz: Toto, weâ€™ve a feeling weâ€™re not in San Pablo anymore! A Bay Area-centric version of “The Wiz” (above)Â springs to life on the Contra Costa College campus this week in this drama department production March 3-7. Tickets $8-$15.
Zany Zanes: Grammy award-winning Dan Zanes brings his family-friendly â€śWoodstock for Kidsâ€ť extravaganza to Berkeleyâ€™s Zellerbach Hall for three shows on March 6 and 7. Tickets $16-$26.
Kids’ Art Show: From crayon to watercolor, Antiochâ€™s fifth annual Art4Schools childrenâ€™s art exhibit has it all. The roving exhibit starts at Jack London and Carmen Dragon Elementary Schools March 3-13, with an artist reception on opening day â€“ today – from 4 to 7 p.m. Free.
Wonder in Aliceland: Tim Burtonâ€™s â€śAlice in Wonderlandâ€ť opens at theaters nationwide this weekend, but Oaklandâ€™s Grand Lake Theater is using its March 5 premiere as a fundraiser for â€śALICE: Arts and Literacy in Childrenâ€™s Education,â€ť which brings storytellers and arts programs to Bay Area public schools.
DNA Dazzler: Grab your young science buffs and head over to Mad Scienceâ€™s â€śCSI: Live!â€ť show March 5 at 7 p.m. When a crime goes down at the Las Vegas premiere of a magic show, the CSI team â€“ and the audience – races into action in this exciting interactive event at Livermoreâ€™s Bankhead Theater. Tickets $12-$25.
Battle Tunes: Also at the Bankhead this weekend, a rollicking concert of Celtic music and battlefield tunes performed on ancient and modern instruments – bagpipe, fiddle, synthesizer, cittern, bodhran and more – March 6 at 8 p.m. Tickets $12-$46.
