BIRTHDAY Book Giveaway!

We’ve been talking about birthday parties for weeks – and birthday cakes, in particular. But this week, we’re turning our attention to the parties themselves and giving away a colorful birthday book, Kathie Lee Gifford’s “Party Animals.” Yep, that’s Gifford of Today show fame, and the hardcover picture book was inspired by a song off her 2001 children’s music album called, of course, “Party Animals.” The book version, which hits bookstore shelves tomorrow, tells the tale of Lucy Goosy, whose desire to throw the Best. Party. Ever. runs awry when she starts coming up with all the reasons not to invite her friends. Pig will make a pig of himself and Goat, well, Goat’s a grump. It’s told in rhyme, the illustrations are big fun and your birthday kid will love it. And it can be yours!
Click “Comments” and tell us about your best birthday party idea ever. We’ll draw a winner’s name next Monday!
P.S. Loved the answers to our last giveaway question – which asked how you knew you were turning into your mother. Among them:
The first time I realized I was turning into my mother was when my daughter asked “why”? and I answered “Because I said so”. Been there! The book “When Did I Get Like This” is headed for our winner Sarah’s mailbox at this very moment!

We had a Pirate Party when our oldest was 7! My Mother-
in-Law made a very old looking scroll invitation. She
even burned the edges. As soon as all of the boys arrived, they were put into teams with clues and off
they went around our home and yard. The group that found
the buried treasure had to share with the others.
It was a lot of fun…..Thanks, Cindi

A real tea party. Last month we had a princess tea party, real loose tea, fancy tea cups, strainers (the kind that sit on the cup and you pour through), sugar cubes and sugar tongs, tea pots, scones and lots of other yummy treats. Everyone had so much fun and they dressed up in fancy clothes

Best birthday party ever was my daughters 4th birthday party. It was a pool party and all her friends had come, all our neighbors and some family. all her favorite foods, and her cake was 6 tiers high, went tipsy tervy like an alice in wonderland cake with bright colors and lots of sparkly things coming off of it! it was amazing!

How about a beach theme party! Make it like you are at the beach! It helps if you have a pool!

My daughters birthday is at the end of summer. Every year she invites friends over for a “Get Wet” party. We have a slip n slide, squirt guns, water balloons sprinklers, and bubbles. We set up an obstacle course through all of that and give prizes to everyone. It’s a lot of fun!

My best birthday party idea is to use cupcakes instead of a big cake – much easier, less mess, and no plates/forks to worry about.

We did an Elmo bday this year.. and bought little dollar-section sesame street characters to set out as decor. And elmo cake, of course. And sesame street (primary colored) m&ms!
