MOCHA Kids’ Art Contest

MOCHA Art ExhibitGot a small artist at home? MOCHA – Oakland’s Museum of Children’s Art – is hosting “What the World Needs Now,” a juried art exhibit, and your creative little darling could be part of the show. MOCHA is asking for out-of-the-box, artistic answers to the question, “What does the world need now?” The submissions deadline is May 24, and the prizes include cash, scholarships or your child’s work on the cover of a magazine. Plus, display at the MOCHA exhibit from June 6 to July 15, before the artwork departs on a tour of regional and global venues. Cool, huh? Click here for entry details and paperwork.

KIDS Meds Recalled

childrens-tylenol-recallThe FDA and McNeil, an international manufacturer of children’s liquid medications, is recalling more than 40 different kinds of over-the-counter children’s meds in the U.S. and abroad because of quality control problems. Lovely. Among them, all sorts of flavors of children’s Tylenol, Tylenol Plus, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl. The company is issuing plenty of soothing pronouncements about this being a preventative measure and children not being in danger, but the reasons behind the recall include worries that some bottles have larger amounts of active ingredients than they’re supposed to, or inactive ingredients that don’t meet the company’s standards, and others contain particles (of what?). The full list of medications is here, along with what to do next and how to get a refund.
