Genghis Khan Invasion: Trek down to the Tech Museum of San Jose for this special Genghis Khan exhibit (pictured, above), which explores the Mongolian leader’s life and times via interactive exhibits and live cultural performances. Tickets: $15-$22.

Choo-Choo: Relive the days of yesteryear, when train whistles echoed off the San Ramon Valley hills, and the Southern Pacific branch line was the main connection to San Francisco. Well, relive it in miniature when the Museum of the San Ramon Valley hosts its annual model train and railroad exhibit, now through July 17. Tickets $1-$5.

Elmo & Co: The Sesame Street gang – Elmo, Bert, Ernie and Abby Cadabby – land at Oakland’s Oracle Arena June 11-13 for a “1-2-3 Imagine! Elmo & Friends” show that’s big on imagination, music and fun. Tickets: $15-$35, parking $20.

Screaming Thrills: Explore the physics, biology, thrills and chills behind roller coasters at the new “Scream Machines: The Science of Roller Coasters” exhibit at Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science. Open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., now through Jan. 2. Tickets $6-12.

Wild Wildlife: Meet a raptor, pet a rabbit and check out the owls at Walnut Creek’s Lindsay Wildlife Museum. Docent-led activities run throughout the day, and you can sign up for a WOW – Wonders of Wildlife – tour, which takes you behind the scenes at the museum and wildlife hospital once a month. Tickets $5-$7.
