Hi Bee:

I hate to rain on your optimism, but I don’t think the A’s lack of attendance can be blamed only on the weather. I covered the event from 2002-04, and during one of those seasons, the A’s set their FanFest record on a day that had worse weather than Saturday.

Don’t you think the weather had a lot to do with people not coming out for the FanFest? I do. It’s not just the trades and the names people won’ recognize right away. The fans will rally around the “young A’s” once people see them playing their hearts out and succeeding. They could surprise you!

What’s up with the black jerseys? Didn’t they already try that back in 2001 or so? I know that in order to make money, MLB has to sell as many things as it can and black ‘goes with everything’ but are these really going to be worn frequently? It’s bad enough that they’re putting the Oakland Rivercats out on the field, now they’re dressing them in black? But I suppose that since it will be a depressing year for the fans of the Green and Gold, if they wear black it won’t be as noticable. Plus, it will feel like a funeral every time I see them.
