Thanks for visiting my second grade classroom and reading Jackie's Bat. Learning about Jackie Robinson is the best way I know to teach my second graders about what the words prejudice and segregation truly mean. Using baseball to teach or review state grade level standards makes learning fun for the kids. That's why one of the classroom bulletin boards reads, "Baseball is Everywhere" with work samples of math, reading, writing and study skills that all review subject matter with a basebal theme.
PS Thanks for being a good sport with the trivia question about the girl who struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
