I could have let Duchscherer go back out in the ninth. If he had gotten in trouble, Street could always come in and save it. But remember, Justin was on the DL for quite a while, is a converted relief pitcher used to pitching only a few innings, and it's early in the season. If this had happened in August, he would have pitched the ninth. I think Bob Geren was taking care of his pitcher for the long haul.

No doubt,Duke would have kept pitching if he still had a chance for a no-hitter. I was fine with the call to bring in Street for the ninth inning, and I would have been fine if Duke pitched the ninth. To me, Duke is in the same situation as Harden to prove he can avoid future injury.
If you remember, Eveland was allowed to get a complete
game when the A's had a huge lead. This game against the Bosox was more tight and high pressure.

To me, Duke is in the same situation as Harden to prove he can avoid future injury.

Duke & Ellis are favorites of mine. Part of the A's "WEAR IT!" generation.
Tough.
I know what you mean about coming out of the game but believe getting shut down earlier in the season had some influence on how many pitches Duke should be throwing per game.
