Hanny will never be Chavy, BUT he has held down the hot corner quite well in Chavy's absense. His hitting woes have been legion, but his 2 jacks in the Seattle game a few days ago were great. Maybe this will be the start of a sustained turnaround for him at the plate. Let's hope for all our sakes that he can do it. He should be a fan favorite: a truly nice and humble guy with a great boyish smile.

I am glad that the team has stuck with Darik Barton. He's had a tough time at the plate this year but he seems to be working his way out of it. Even though he leads the AL in errors for first basemen, he has made some spectacular plays to offset the gaffes.

No comment at this point on the possible Santa Clara deal. It would make it hard for us in Contra Costa to get there for games, but they may pick up new fans to offset that, though it is Giants territory with a Giants' Single A farm team in San Jose so they may not be receptive to going to A's games in that area. Who knows. I guess I did comment after all.

As for the Comcast negotioations, early on this year I called Comcast to complain that they carried almost twice as many Giants games as A's games. Now I know why. I also don't like the fact that the Giants share in the revenue from the broadcasts of A's games. With CSN West, the A's would have the same (or similar)equity stake the Giants now have with CSNBA. So I think it might be a good idea depending upon the deal. I would hope that they would broadcast most of the A's games and predominiately in HD. Watching a game on KICU is painful on an HD screen and HD will be the norm before long. I also hope thay will keep Mindi Bach and Jaymee Sire as the hosts of the pre- and postgame shows. I think they do a great job and it is nice to see women find success in on-air sports TV programming.

Hanna-"montana"-Han isn't the answer at 3rd base. but he can play there and will be vital to the team.

Barton should have had a better year. Maybe a better lineup and he'll succeed.
