Just a quick recap from Phoenix Muni, where the A’s beat the Dodgers 10-8. It had been 18 years since these teams played a spring training game. Based on the tedious manner in which this one played out, they may want to wait another 18 years. The A’s scored nine runs in the third, three coming home on bases-loaded walks. Travis Buck had three RBI and crushed an opposite-field home run, his third homer of the spring.
For the first time, we got to see Trevor Cahill struggle a bit. He started and went three innings, looking dominant in the first but seeing his command desert him in a four-run second. Still, Bob Geren was happy with the way he recovered in a 1-2-3 third inning.
