It was a melancholy scene this afternoon at Angel Stadium, where the A’s and Angels were supposed to play the finale of a four-game series tonight. The game obviously has been postponed following the death of Angels right-hander Nick Adenhart. Fans have set up a memorial to Adenhart on the huge plaza leading into the stadium’s main entrance. Lots of people brought flowers. There’s an Adenhart jersey. There’s also a sign that reads: “#34, one more Angel in heaven.”
The A’s scheduled starter tonight, Brett Anderson, will now make his major league debut in Friday night’s home opener against Seattle. The A’s haven’t announced if they’ll adjust their rotation any further, now that they’ve gotten an unexpected day off under some very sad circumstances. …
