Day game after a night game

Crowd starting to file in at the Coliseum. Still kinda breezy out here but attendance should be a big bigger than it was the past couple of games. A’s are looking to sweep Boston at home for the second straight season.

A’s starting lineup today vs. Red Sox

Sweeney CF, Cabrera SS, Cust DH, Holliday LF, Ellis 2B, Buck RF, Suzuki C, Crosby 3B, Powell 1B.

Yes, Landon Powell is starting at first base for the A’s. A’s manager Bob Geren said Jason Giambi, who has started all eight games so far this season, is available if need be, as is Nomar Garciaparra and Eric Chavez. Garciaparra (tightness, right calf) said before the game that he was feeling okay today and just came out of Tuesday’s game as a precautionary measure, considering he had calf issues last season as well.

Other tidbits — Kurt Suzuki has hit safely in 14 of his career games against the Red Sox (18-for-50), the longest streak for any Oakland player ever.
