Vinny Mazzaro may well be with the A’s before too long if he keeps this up. For the second straight week, Mazzaro has earned Pitcher of the Week honors in the Pacific Coast League. No other PCL player had pulled that off this year.

Meantime, the River Cats stayed red hot on Monday. Sean Gallagher was very good, allowing four hits in seven innings. But I would suggest he throw three or four in a row like that before the A’s start taking him seriously.

Elsehwere.

DOUBLE-A MIDLAND

— Pitcher Bobby Cramer earned Texas League Pitcher of the Week. No link to the actual announcement, but here’s his game log and stats.

— Outfielder Javier Herrera was released last week. Have to wonder what would’ve happened to Herrera had he not sustained such a severe injury a few seasons back.

SINGLE-A STOCKTON

— Tyson Ross will start the opener of a four-game series at Bakersfield on Wednesday. The former Cal star is still looking for his first win.

— The son of a former Athletic is not having a great season.
