Giambi to DL with quad injury; Barton called up

A quick update before I head down to the A’s clubhouse. Jason Giambi was placed on the 15-day DL with a strained right quadriceps. Daric Barton was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento to take his spot.
There’s no details yet on how Giambi hurt himself, but Bobby Crosby replaced him at first base for the top of the ninth yesterday. More details to come …
