Was I the only one who turned it off after 12-2? I've been an A's fan since I was 4 ('86) but can't remember the team really before the late 80s. I think this season will be worse than any mid 90s season ever was. I can't remember the last time I turned off a ball game in disgust until last night.

Geo... 11 runs? Base runner, base runner, homerun. Base runner, base runner, base runner, grandslam... It was a bloodbath that I couldn't watch.

And then comes the phonecall from my dad this morning... "How about them A's?" "Uh, dad they got their butts kicked. What are you trying to say? I know they suck this year, but they're young." "Son, they won." "Dad, don't be mean, they got creamed. I turned it off after 12-2.." "Go to the merc and see the score."

Needless to say, I am now bummed I never flipped it back over.

While Geren nearly tripped himself with his pitching staff management (G Gonzalez needs to designated for assignment - he has no toughness whatsoever), amazingly, as I haven't seen any comments about the 27th out of Monday's Raider-Viking-like game, for those who consider the call so controversial, ever think that Michael Cuddyer's right foot likely never touched home plate?

Because we're so used to iffy umpiring for and against us, it becomes too easy to look at the other side of call for or against us. In this case, Cuddyer was there before Wuertz's tag, but the right foot was still in the air, hence the call that give us Athletics our best Oakland comeback ever, a win we needed very badly, with another season at an even worse win pace than last year.

The most controversial AL manager-GM relationship will be severely tested if we don't respond to this comeback accordingly.

Geren was sole reason A's had to come back from so far back. Geren left that kid Gio Gonzalez (who was coming back off a very long layoff in the big leagues) left him in to pitch and allow 13 runs by the Twins before finally pulling the kid out. Worst manager in MLB!
