A’s-Sox pregame update — Thursday

It was pouring when I got to Fenway Park about an hour ago, but the sun is out now and it’s looking like this game will start on time. … The Temptations were blasting in the A’s clubhouse this morning — not the usual pregame tunes. I’ll say this: Nomar Garciaparra has seen some Motown clips in his time, judging by the dance moves he was busting out.

No Scott Hairston in the lineup for the third straight day. He says his quad has been slow to recover, but he’s hopeful for tomorrow’s night game in Oakland. Eric Patterson sits today also, with Boston throwing lefty Jon Lester. Ryan Sweeney starts in left field for a change, with Rajai Davis in center and Jack Cust in right.

With the trade deadline just more than 24 hours away, shortstop Orlando Cabrera looked pretty loose this morning, joking around w/his teammates. Manager Bob Geren mentioned how veteran players don’t let trade rumors rattle them this time of year. I’d say Cabrera falls into that category …

beane took over a team SOME ONE ELSE BUILT in 1998 that had a firm foundation and farm system. And outstanding players. Never could win a single AL pennant with such a team. Several times taking a 2-0 lead in best of 5 series but never getting the job done BECAUSE he never made the winning trade deadline deal to put the A’s over that small hump. Then as time went on the foundation evaporated but there still was one last chance in 2006. But there it ended. He started unloading the best players on this for hopes that in 3 years they would be grat players. Hell you dont know if a 20 game winner this year will even win 10 next year. but he was counting on them because they were young. note- many old players once were young. i mean all of them even the terrible ones.

now because he knows no other way to operate but trade to get youth, of course he then trades the youth he acquired quickly away too, but wants you to not see it – and badded poster doesnt.

this team is spinning its wheels in a mudhole and will never move forward with him an egotist@-whole at the helm.

right there with the other laughing stocks in baseball – beane has brought the a’s.
