Elbow soreness for Anderson; Sweeney leaves with dizziness

The announcement on Brett Anderson was left elbow soreness, which isn’t surprising considering the injury that put him on the DL was a combo strained forearm/elbow inflammation. Obviously not a good development for the A’s.

And shortly after he left, right fielder Ryan Sweeney exited the game after a collision with second baseman Mark Ellis on a foul pop-up. Sweeney made a sliding attempt and Ellis’ thigh appeared to hit him in the head. Sweeney was taken out for precautionary reasons after he said he had dizziness.

Gabe Gross switched from left field to right, and just threw out Darnell McDonald on a play at home. The A’s have thrown two guys out at home and we’re only in the fourth inning.
