A’s promote No. 1 prospect Chris Carter

The A’s officially announced that top prospect Chris Carter has been promoted from Triple-A Sacramento and will be in uniform for tonight’s game at Seattle. Recently acquired infielder Jeff Larish was also called up while Matt Watson was placed on the 15-day DL with kidney stones and Matt Carson was optioned to Sacramento.

How’s that for adding some spice to this six-game road trip? I haven’t seen the lineup yet, but I’d assume Carter will be starting in left field (perhaps first base if Daric Barton isn’t ready to go).

That’s the big news in A’s land … The Mariners have plenty going on with the firing of manager Don Wakamatsu. Bench coach Ty Van Burkleo also was dismissed as part of Seattle’s house-cleaning. Both Wakamatsu and Van Burkleo served on the A’s coaching staff in 2008 (Van Burkleo arrived in 2007, Wakamatsu a year later).

I’ll have more later. Gotta run down to the clubhouse …

  • Garrett

    Yes, finally!

  • Good to hear. We need a heavy bat.
With a little luck he will make his presence felt immediate. Maybe light a fire for some of the other hitters. How unexpected would it be to actualy fight for the division title.
