Im glad to see the A’s active and breathing. Sign ‘em all. You have nothing to lose if you have nothing. I want the A’s to have something! Obviously, they cannot get it done on pitching alone. We’ve seen that movie too many times!!!

i give up if they get beltre they need to sign dunn and trade for a power hitting outfielder give me a break beltre has had 2 descent years and he will never again do that please beane spend the money on someone who produces for god sakes

beltre, garciaparra, piazza, loaiza, cabrera etc… why does it feel liek oakland’s a year late on these guys. beltre…of course he’s an upgrade to anyone currently in the organization next year, but what would worry me is not next year, but what about the fourth and probably fifth year that he’d probably command to come to oakland. i don’t think he’s got another “lie about my age” incident in him so I’m going to believe that he is actually 32 and not younger. he wont’ have the green monster either. encarnacion would almost seem like a better fit if everything’s taken into consideration. money, years of commitment, age etc. the more moves oakland makes, the more i think there’s not going to be room for carter and barton.

Assuming they can’t sign Beltre, I’m guessing they’ll non-tender Kouzmanoff and keep Encarnacion to be the 2011 everyday 3B. I’m not sure why they would have claimed him if that wasn’t the plan.

My two cents: I wouldn’t be a fan of the decision to replace Kouzmanoff with Encarnacion. I see them pretty equally on offense, and Encarnacion would be a big downgrade on defense. Plus he seems to be injury-prone.

Hopefully he can prove me wrong, though!
