Long story short, there’s no one on the 40-man roster who’s “on the bubble” and out of options. That includes Devine. So when it comes to deciding the final spots on the 25-man roster, the “options” issue won’t come into play. You’ll remember that last spring, players such as Eric Patterson and Jake Fox were out of options — meaning they had to clear waivers before the A’s could send them to minors — and that was a reason that both broke camp with the big club.
