The guy on the hill couldn’t throw a strike and would have walked the bases loaded.

Worst was nibbling against Span and walking him. With Mauer, Willingham and Morneau looming you let Span walk. He has 1 HR and worst he could have done is tie the game. Make him hit! Instead he tries to get the strikeout, gets cute and brings the winning run to the plate. I feel bad for Josh Rddick because the kid can play but he will be shipped out soon enough anyway.

He’s getting a terrific pitching performance, and then takes the guy out because of “A pitch count”..I’m thinking Melvin isn’t into winning as much as he is into pleasing Slick Billy and his methods.
Its a head shaker that a team that cant hit..then pulls a pitcher…More of Beane thinking.

Did you hear Joe that Billy Beane’s kid took up playing little league baseball?..before every game though,Billy ties one of his kids arm behind his back and tells him ” I want you to get used to what its like to play for the A’s when you grow up”…!
