And we begin…

Tomorrow marks the unoffical beginning of the football season for me. It’s Pac-10 media day in Los Angeles. I will be there, along with the coaches of all 10 teams and a star player from each team. One of the highlights will be the release of the preseason media poll. Will USC be a unanimous pick to win the conference title? It will be interesting to see if Cal is picked second or third (I picked the Bears second).

I should stumble across a lot of good stuff and will be sure to share it with you all. I’ll check in when the festivities are complete.

Just for those who may have lost track of time, the beginning of fall camp is less than two weeks away! First practice is on Aug. 6. The Bears will practice every day except Aug. 24 They will have five double-day sessions.

One loose end in case you missed it: Tight end Craig Stevens was named to the Mackey Award watch list. The award is given annualy to the nation’s top tight end. Other Pac-10 tight ends to make the list are USC’s Fred Davis and UCLA’s Logan Paulsen. There are 31 players on the list.
