I know it not your “beat” but maybe some notes/info on the Cardinal (the team, not big-mouth harbaugh) Would be nice to sprinkle in just to show how far removed Cal is from Stanford.

I can understand Schutte leaving the Bears due to the depth on the roster (Good Luck to him), But why did Stanfords Senior Tight End decide not to play football this year even though he got an appeal on his eligibility?

LaughingBear, I don’t have any inside info about Stanford other than what I read, just like you. I check in with our Stanford beat writer, Darren Sabedra of the Mercury News, from time to time, so maybe I’ll pick some things up from him. But just for the record, my motivation wouldn’t be to “show how far removed Cal is from Stanford.” If that were my motivation, that wouldn’t make me a very good impartial journalist. My job is to identify with Cal, not root for Cal.
