It’s a few days since my Stanford comments above, and word today about Ostrander’s seizue is most troubling.

Having a sister who had Epilepsy, I know how random a seizure can be. But, I also wonder about his time on the field. When we (Cal) have played Stanford, we hit him hard and often and yet he was always right back up and throwing.

I’m not saying continued play by his starters in a losing endeavor is the cause for this, but there has to be some thought going through Harbaugh’s mind?!

BTW, Saturday night’s game wasn’t the only time I’ve had this concern. There have been a couple of Stanford games where the commentators were quite vocal about what Harbaugh was doing leaving his starters in the game.

We’ll have the week off to rest and heal, then the week to prepare for a more-mediocre-by-the-week Oregon State, which will allow us a tune-up game before heading to head south to UCLA the southeast to Arizona State.

Watching the Stanford/ASU game, made me think about the downside to bye scheduling…

Stanford has so many injuries, but without any depth chart to fall back on. They’ve already had their bye in the second week (with another unofficial bye the week before the Big Game).

On top of that, Saturday night, fourth quarter, five minutes left in the game…it was ASU 4503 (or whatever), Stanford 3…

Why was Ostrander still playing? Stanford had no chance to pull off a comeback, or even make it respectable, so why would Chewin’ Tobacca Harbaugh keep his starting QB in and risk injury?? Why wouldn’t he want to give his younger QBs some field time? I’m sure the field/game exposure would be a great benefit for them.

What does Harbaugh have to gain by risking injury to a pretty decent QB (and Stanford’s only hope for anything this season)? At that point in a lost game–garbage time–one usually brings in the green players to give ‘em a feel for the game.

I don’t see what he’s trying to accomplish.
